Over $7,300 for Children in Ottawa
This year’s annual CHEO telethon on CTV News again raised over $4.9 million dollars for both The Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO), and Children’s Miracle Network (CMN.)
Swiss Chalet again played a pivotal role as a corporate sponsor, providing complimentary food for volunteers. (Courtesy of our 2930 Carling Avenue location in Ottawa) Swiss Chalet Teammates also volunteered their time, both preparing meals, and answering corporate sponsor phone lines. In addition we provided “Dinner-For-Two” prizes for ‘on air’ donation and volunteer contests. To top it all off, at the end of the day, Swiss Chalet presented a check in the amount of $7332.49, representing donations from our successful Festive Miracle Day. Overall, it was a fun and rewarding day, with lots of money raised for a worthy cause. |

Teeing Up for a Great Cause.
Swiss Chalet in Bracebridge hosts an annual Pro-Am Golf Tournament in support of Camp Oochigeas. Last year, we raised over $4,000. For 23 years, Camp Oochigeas has provided hope, self-esteem and personal growth for thousands affected by childhood cancer. Each year over 200 children ages 6-19 participate in programs such as eight weeks of summer camp including sessions for teens and bereaved siblings, a year-round program at the Hospital for Sick Children, and several Fall and Winter camp weekends. Camp Oochigeas is also the only residential camping facility in Ontario to offer IV chemotherapy treatment and blood transfusions on-site, and offers all programs at absolutely no cost to children and their families. Kids Promote Good Health
Swiss Chalet on Grand Lake Road in Nova Scotia, along with Mira Road Elementary School, developed a program to enhance students’ Health Class. On Tuesday June 13th, Operator Darrell Flynn along with Principal Sandra LeBlanc, three teachers, and a class full of students, went on a field trip visiting several local restaurants and other places that younger children frequent (movie theatres, bowling allies, etc.) The students asked managers of the establishments to place stacking stools in restrooms, (to allow younger children to reach the taps), along with a laminated descriptive format on proper hand washing procedures. Lunch was then held at the Swiss Chalet restaurant. |
